US coffee giant Starbucks, in response to an investigation by Reuters which found they had only paid £8.6m in corporation tax in the last 14 years – and nothing at all in the last three years. The firm has attracted criticism for the way it manages  international tax affairs, which are paid in legal and common among large corporates based across a number of countries. Tax campaigner Richard Murphy from Tax Research UK said Starbucks’ activities might be legal but “that doesn’t mean to say it’s right.”
