Chancellor "to concentrate on economy".
George Osborne will not take charge of the Cameron's next election campaign, according to the Daily Mail.
The Prime Minister is instead expected to recruit strategist Lynton Crosby, who masterminded both of Boris Johnson’s London mayoral election victories. The decision is seen as an acknowledgement that the Chancellor should devote his full attentions to boosting the economy, instead of acting as Mr Cameron’s chief political strategist.
According to the Mail, Treasury insiders report that Osborne is seen as overstretched, "because he spends so much time plotting with Mr Cameron in Number Ten. Tory strategists are also conscious that Labour labelling him a ‘part-time Chancellor’ is damaging at a time of economic strife."
